White Lights Terms

The ground rules

Terms of Use

A public career archive should be useful, careful, and honest about what its numbers mean.

Effective July 15, 2026

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and DeadBeet LLC. By downloading, accessing, or using the White Lights app, website, or services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use White Lights.

2. The service

White Lights is a powerlifting career archive. It can help you search public competition results, view career Passports, compare exact competition contexts, save public careers and rivals, select local artwork, and create shareable recaps.

White Lights is an archive, not a live-results service. Meets may appear days or weeks after an event, and historical records can be incomplete, corrected, merged, or removed by the source.

3. Public records and athlete identity

Competition data comes from the public-domain OpenPowerlifting dataset. White Lights is independent and is not affiliated with OpenPowerlifting, any athlete, meet director, or powerlifting federation.

Selecting My Passport, saving a career, recognizing results, or knowing facts about an athlete does not prove identity or ownership. Only a completed server-side verification review may create a verified-athlete status.

Do not use White Lights to impersonate another person or falsely claim control of a public career. Source-data corrections should be submitted to OpenPowerlifting rather than silently changed only in White Lights.

4. Accounts and verification

Account creation and athlete verification are not currently open. If they become available, you must provide accurate information, protect access to your account, and promptly tell us about unauthorized use.

Verification may be denied, appealed, suspended, or revoked when evidence is insufficient, circumstances change, or safety and integrity require it. Verification, appeals, revocation, privacy, and deletion will not require a paid subscription.

5. Your photos and exports

You keep your rights in photos and other content you choose. You must have permission to use and share them. Do not select or distribute content that is unlawful, abusive, deceptive, invasive of privacy, or infringes someone else's rights.

White Lights does not automatically post your exports. You decide whether and where to share them. Public competition facts remain attributed to their source even when presented with your selected artwork.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use White Lights for unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, or harmful activity.
  • Impersonate an athlete or misrepresent verification, affiliation, results, or records.
  • Probe, disrupt, overload, bypass, or misuse the service or its security controls.
  • Use automated access in a way that violates law, harms service availability, or ignores published limits.
  • Copy, resell, or exploit White Lights software, design, or private services except as law permits.
  • Remove source attribution or present a derived White Lights metric as an official federation record.

7. Subscriptions and purchases

White Lights does not currently offer a paid subscription. If paid features are introduced, their price and included features will be shown before purchase.

Purchases made in the iPhone app will be processed by Apple and will also be subject to Apple's payment, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms. White Lights will not paywall access to complete public source facts, correction paths, account deletion, privacy controls, or verification safety processes.

8. Ownership and licenses

White Lights software, product design, original writing, graphics, and branding are owned by or licensed to DeadBeet LLC and are protected by applicable laws. OpenPowerlifting competition data remains available under its public-domain dedication and is not claimed as exclusive White Lights property.

You may use normal app exports for personal, editorial, and social sharing. That permission does not grant rights to redistribute the app, operate a competing copy of the private service, or imply an endorsement.

If you send feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation, but you do not transfer ownership of your photos or other original content.

9. Third-party services and links

White Lights relies on or links to services operated by others, including OpenPowerlifting, Apple, and Cloudflare. Their services are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party sites, source changes, outages, or content.

10. No medical, coaching, or official advice

White Lights provides historical and descriptive information. It does not provide medical care, coaching, meet-day commands, legal advice, or official federation rulings. Rankings, targets, formulas, narratives, and comparisons may be derived, incomplete, or unsuitable for a particular decision.

Use qualified professionals and official federation sources when health, safety, eligibility, rules, or competition decisions matter.

11. Availability and disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, White Lights is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every public record, identity grouping, comparison, or derived value is complete, current, or error-free.

We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the extent the law allows. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DeadBeet LLC and its members, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from White Lights.

Our total liability for claims related to White Lights will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the service during the 12 months before the claim or 100 US dollars. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using White Lights at any time. We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, athletes, source integrity, security, or the service, or when these terms are materially violated.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law, will survive.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these terms removes consumer rights that cannot be waived under the law where you live.

15. Changes

We may update these terms as White Lights changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable notice through the app or website. Continuing to use White Lights after updated terms take effect means you accept them.
